Hp pavilion dv2000

Hello,
my hp pavilion dv2000 will not load windows xp i asked everyone and i know how to restore factory settings and possibly lose all of my files and info but that what i need to keep all or most of stuff HELP PLEASE

try this
put xp cd in drive
boot from it
when you reach partition selection choose R
to repair windows
then type
1
press
enter

then type
fixboot
press
enter
the restart computer

it's not booting or what do have on it now??? don't know need more details sorry
