Hi all,
I received some help on here a month or so ago. I've changed just a few things on the build and I'd love to hear some "OK's" before I pull the trigger – hopefully tonight!

In particular, I'm not sure if the GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD4P is worth $50 more than the GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3. I won't be doing any intense 3D graphics that would necessitate serious Crossfire/SLI GPUs, but it would be nice to have that as an option.

Also, I'm now thinking of sticking with my piddly NVidia Quadro FX 560 since it does what I need to, for now. A Radeon HD 5xxx wouldn't help Adobe CS4 and web-browsing, right?

thanks!

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: <1 month

BUDGET RANGE: $1000

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Video editing, CAD, possibly some high-res Processing applications in the future, no gaming.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitors, case, power supply (Seasonic SS-550HT), auxiliary hard drives (2 x 1TB), DVD-R, keyboard, mouse, sound card, NIC

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: US

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel CPU

OVERCLOCKING: No SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080 and 1680x1050

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I'm overhauling my 3-yr old PC. I'd like to make a well-rounded, multi-task capable Windows 7 64-bit build for immediate use in video editing and CAD. There is also a possibility I will eventually upgrade this unit for high-res, multi-monitor computational graphics applications (Processing, ReacTable multi-touch tables, etc.) I would likely upgrade RAM and GPU(s) at that point, however, I am not clear on how significant the benefit would be from high-end GPUs or Crossfire/SLI arrays in my non-gaming applications -- I'd especially love advice on that, thanks.

Hey all,

I'm also starting to wonder about the i7-930 vs. the i7-860. I see the i7-930 OC's very well; I would not be OCing unless it was 100% safe, stable, and simple

So, the two setups I am deciding between – which would be better for video & photo editing?

i7-860 w/ 8GB RAM
vs.
i7-930 (non-OC) w/ 6GB RAM
