I've started playing around with the clock and vcore on my new i5. At idle my temps are around 28C. Under Prime95 Blend load I'm at around 65C-70C. The odd thing is that the temps fluctuate wildy. When I start Prime 95 the temps instantly go from 28C to 60C. Then the temps slowly go up to 70C from 60C and them BAM! right back down to 65C. The temps then go slowly up to 70C and then again BAM! right back down to 65C.

Something similar happens when I turn off Prime 95. The temps will instantly go from 70C to 35C then slowly go down to the idle temp from there.

Current setup:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Asrock Extreme6 mobo
Core I5 3570K

Snapshot of AIDA64 at highest temp values I see:

Running the same hardware here. (Extreme 3 though)
I get the same results as you. (26c idle) (61c load)

It's 100% normal for any cpu.

Question, How far did you overclock it?
