5850 = no boot

Forum Graphics & Displays : AMD Radeon 5850 = no boot

Word :    Username :

Hello,
About a month ago I bought a 5850 and after installing it, my computer would not boot. Instead, I got some beep codes (I *think* the codes indicate bad VGA, but don't quote me).

Flash forward to now, and I have received my RMA of the card, and... the same thing is happening!
So this has me wondering if it's not the card but my system/psu.

I have a Corsair TX650W (650 W, 52A on +12V) -- does anything think this psu should not be able to handle a Radeon 5850?

Your PSU is more than enough...

Do you have an old card that you can test in its place? Is this a new build, or other than the 5850 is this an existing working build? Try reseating the card and both power connectors.

If you have an nforce type mobo, it is more than likely the problem, and if that is the case, there is no way around it, you must upgrade or all off your new card:( sorry. Alot of the 5xxx cards don't work with a selEct few nforce boards
