Hi all,
Just a simply question, i am looking to put my old 8600 gt in to a computer, the computer is running a onboard hd3200 and just wondered what the best way of doing this is. also i am looking to go back to the hd 3200 straight after and remove the 8600 gt card.

i am doing a comparrison for my farther in law so i can show the difference on the screen resolutions an the hd3200 wont run his 1680x1050.

any ideas, thanks

Well first of all the HD3200 is an ATI card, and the 8600GT is an NVidia graphics card. you can't mix the two or you are going to get a ton of crashes, if it even works. In order to use the 8600GT properly, you will need to disable the onboard Video Card in your "Device Manager" and uninstall the ATI Drivers. Uninstall the ATI Drivers first. Then turn off, install the 8600GT, turn on, and then disable the onboard Video. Then you can install the NVidia 8600 Drivers.

ok thanks, its just that i have had three different gpus now and done things different, once the new gpu has been installed it puts the display of that gpu as default and then i uninstall the drivers of the old gpu and reboot and then install the new drivers of the new gpu, but all my cards have been the nvidia 8xxx series. but i have never had any problems.

sorry no i just remembers i did uninstall the old drivers before i installed the new gpu.

thanks for all your help
