Forum Motherboards & Memory : Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Won't Post

Hey guys I'm having the worst luck with my new build. First I'll get the specs out of the way:

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB
COOLER MASTER GX Series RS650-ACAAE3-US 650W
Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz

The first motherboard had 2 pins bent flush to the board in the CPU socket so I RMA'd it and Newegg sent me a new one. Now the one which had no bent pins I put together in a barebones setup. Motherboard, memory, cpu/fan, video card, power, motherboard speaker I turn it on and the mobo and everything lights up but nothing happens. No beeps from the speaker, no video, nothing! As you can tell I'm beyond frustrated with this build and ready to send it all back.

Ok guys I found the issue! Reading in this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] otherboard I was forgetting to connect the 8pin power connector on the board.

"Remember the UD3R has TWO power connections, one 24? pin on the right side of the mobo, the other an 8-pin on the top left. If you forgot to connect the 8-pin, you will get some Phase LEDs and DDR3 Phase LED lit, cpu fan will work. However you will not post, gpu will not be recognized and USB connections will not work. "

Glad you were able to in the end work things out. At times it is just as good to just put it down on "paper" and get the thought process going. By doing so, you were able to research and seek out your own answer...

Thx! Fustration was really setting in so I took a min to myself and decided to look around before giving up. This great forum had what I was missing. Win7 Ultimate 64b is installing and can't wait to try out some games. :)

Got Windows7 installed just having one issue. The driver disk would no work so I downloaded the drivers on a usb stick and installed them to the new PC. However I do not have any audio from my front pannel or back panel hookups. I uninstalled the HD Audio from both NVIDIA and Realtek and reinstalled the drivers from Realtek but I get no sound :-/

I would uninstall both and see if the Windows default drivers pickup your sound from there. I've seen many of times conflicts for whatever reason with Realtek drivers. If they work, you can than try and install the latest drivers and see if they work.

Also for your front panels, I would just double check to make sure they are plugged in correctly.

Hey Tecmo thanks for your help. There's was two issues. The drivers for the motherboard that come a disk worked fine. But the HD Audio drivers nvidia install conflict with them. Also I was using the AC97 plug from the case instead of the HD audio. So the audio from the back connections worked but the front panel didn't. Need to get an extension for this. Luckily my keyboard has mic/headphone jacks so this isn't a big issue for me personally.
