I recently installed windows xp 64 bit on my optiplex 740 and when I attempt to install the ethernet contoller driver that dell offers(broadcom integrated adapter or something) for windows xp, it says my OS is not compatible. I have tried a whole bunch of other drivers(even some offered by lenovo) to no success

any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

AMD athlon 64 x2 4800+ dual core 2.5 ghz
6 gb ram
windows xp 64 bit professional sp2

The 64-bit version of XP requires special 64-bit drivers, same as every other 64-bit OS. Odds are Dell never released these, so you can try Broadcom's site to see if they might offer some, but failing that, you're stuck.
