Have you tried the printer in another USB port on your system? Have you tried another device in the USB port your printer normally occupies to verify that the port is functional? Are you given any indication that a connection has been made when you plug in your printer such as the usual 'beeps.' Also does anything appear in Hardware Manager?
Failing that, it may be worth uninstalling your current drivers, downloading the latest release from the manufacturer's site and reinstalling them. Post back with any progress. Best of luck!
