Crysis: Need help evaluating system

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Right now im running Crysis on all High, no AA and getting around 30fps. I would ideally like to run the game at very high, 2xAA and get 30-40 FPS.

Right now im running:
C2 Q6700 @ 3.33 GHz, 1333FSB on a Gigabyte P45 UD3P
GSkill 4GB (2x 2GB dual channel) DDR2-800 @ 667 MHz CL4
HD4850
7200RPM HD
Win7 32bit

I plan on getting another 4850 to crossfire, but do you see any bottlenecks in the system doing so? I dont want to get another card if its pointless when the rest of the system is holding it down. I can probably clock my cpu more but im really comfortable with the temps im getting right now.
Will I achieve my goal or what is the best thing I can do to get it close to there? Thanks!

Win7 32 bit + 4GB ram + future X-fire = fail.

Q6700 @ 3.3 will be fine with 4850 CF,however what resolution do you play at and how much do you want to spend ?

I run on a 22 in, 1680x1050.

Budget? I say $200. The 4850 for $100 is a bargain for me if it can do what I need.

More explanation please? I actually have a 2x1GB DDR2-800 set laying around I can stick in making it 6GB and bump up to win7 64 if that helps.

Of course it helps. You are now wasting 1GB of RAM because of the 32bit. It won't help in games, but why just waste hardware?

32bit any only use 3GB of RAM, so 1GB out of your 4 is doing jack shyt

Im aware its not utilizing the full 4gig and it doesn't hurt. I did not need all 4 and wanted to keep 32bit if I could.
That is, if RAM or the 32bit system was a concern for this game then I will make the nessessary changes.

For that resolution i would recommend getting a single fast card instead, something like HD 5770 would be good

for 200, you could push for a single GTX 260 one of the newer ones ( i think gigabyte? ) had one clocked really high that ran at between a 275/285. But i dont remember the cost lol.

Yes its not as powerful but i think i think 1680x1050 doesn't benefit much from CF,therefore getting a 5770 would be a better choice, that's my opinion though :)

True, but that stretches his budget unless he sells his HD4850. He'll see quite an improvement as well. And the main thing I go after when helping people is future-proofing; but sadly, with $200, there's not much other choice.

You should really upgrade to a 64 Bit operating system before you do your graphics card update. Think of it this way 32 bit os's can only read 4GB theoretical max memory. This memory includes the memory from your graphics cards or what ever additional addins you may have. So right now your running a pretty respectable system however you are only using 3GB of your ram as 512MB is reserved for your graphics card, and the other 512 just vanishes somewhere in the OS. If you were to upgrade to 64 bit, I am pretty sure your Crysis framerates will increase to where you can use 2x AA on the 4850 at your resolution. That's what I used to run my Crysis at on my 4850.
