Will the ECS 945GCT -M support a E6500?

Hi,

The title says it all. I got a bundle and the mobo was damaged so I can't take it back.

My memory is 2G dual-channel PC2-5300 and the board is currently running a E2180 cpu.

I realize the E6500 features will not be fully supported but if it's an improvement over the old processor I'd like to use it.

Thank you.

Mike

Welcome to the forums!

EDIT: Sorry, wrong board. :na:

Unfortunately the ECS 945GCT-M will not support a Pentium E6500, the best CPU it will support is the Core 2 Extreme X6800, although they are ridiculously overpriced and the best value CPU would be the Core 2 Duo E6600. You may need to flash the BIOS to version 07/11/07, if the board does not come with that BIOS already.

Thank you very much. I initially could not find the cpu list at the ECS site but I have now. I will either get another mobo or donate the cpu and get a another bundle of some kind.
