ok so im planning on building a new system and i was going to put an Ati 5770 in it, then later crossfire it. however now they came out with the 5830 and im considering using that instead. would an Antec 650w PSU be able to handle two of them? and do you think their worth the extra 70$ over the 5770?

i plan on mostly playing Crysis and Crysis 2 (when it comes out). i have a 22inch monitor and will be playing it on 1680x1050 res with no AA and ultra high settings.

also does anyone know if their planning on putting out a card in between the 5770 and the 5830. maybe a 5790?

This chart puts the 5830's performance in a better light. Pretty much right down the middle at first glance between a 5770 + 5850. Exactly where its price essentially is.

Its power at idle is the same goodness :) as all the 5 series and at full tdp its 20 more watts than the 5850. 171 watts.

In reality , thats pushing it. Heres a graph from tweaktown of their 'bare' system, power measured at the socket. Add another 172 for another 5830 and your over 550. Doable, its like drag racing on 10" tires :) .

A card between 5770 and 5830? I don't think so.

But you should look for a single HD 5850.
Best option for you.Your PSU will handle it easily and you can CF down the road.

I think your PSU will take CF 5850s.

5830 is overpriced right now.
200$ seems a good price for it.
