Help I am going crazy

I have several folders of pictures on my laptop and I am going nuts. Whenever I open a folder, the pics are in alphabetical order by title. When I scroll down to one that starts with M, say, it jumps back to the top of the list. I can not even delete any because I can not get it to stay in the middle long enough to highlight it and hit "delete".

i can sometimes work around it by sorting them by date, but I would like to be able to stop it from doing this.

Are there a huge number of photos, like greater than a few thousand? If so, you might need to move then to separate folders.

no, maybe a hundred or so in each folder. I will try the icons things.

Could be your mouse or touchpad. Does this only happen in this one folder?

no, could happen in any folder. Sometimes if I just leave it at the top, it is like it is continually "refreshing".

Explorer will automatically refresh if a file has changed. Have you scanned for a virus?

it does it with thumbnails as well, BTW.
