Single rail?

I tried to search, but the information is probably to advanced for my knowledge. But what is single rail and multi rail in a simplified explanation?

I see people say "You better get a single rail...". I'd like to understand what is it. Thank

In other words, don't worry about the difference. Buy a quality PSU and look at the total 12 volt power available.
