Hello, I've used the system disc and 5 recovery disc so computer can be like when originally bought. Now it says it can't reboot because file for system root is missing? What should I do?

5 recovery discs ?!?!?!?!?

Well, ...not surprised it won't boot...

Ok, I'm guessing the "System missing or corrupt...bla,bla..." at startup, so safe mode is out, but U can still try recovery console.
The chances that U could get it working again without reinstalling, are not good. So, if you have your data saved I recommend you reinstall Windows. If not, get out the drive and put it in another PC to copy your personal files. Then reinstall.

But.. there is a small chance , and U can try it:
(U will have to replace the System.file in Config o the one in Repair folder in Recovery console)
If you have the xp cd, boot from it, and type R for recovery console (do you know a little cmd? ah, no matter...)
Type Your Windows instalattion (usually 1)
Type password if you have one, if not, just leave press Enter.
Welcome to recovery console! (I just like saying that)
type this:
cd C:\Windows\System32\Config
and press enter (if C is where your Windows is installed)
type:
rename system system.old
and press enter
now type:
cd C:\Windows\System32\Repair
and press enter
now type:
copy C:\Windows\System32\Repair\system C:\Windows\System32\Config

and press enter, and type exit and press enter. It will restart.

It may not work , but U don't have anything to lose, so....
Good luck!

(and yes I had tried this on several PC's)

:hello:
