Reboot issues

My son just have me his old PC. I used system disc and the 5 recovery disc that came with it. Now comp says it can't reboot because system root file missing. What should I do?

What was the issue before you reloaded Windows? Are you sure the hard drive is not failing?

hold down windows key+R at start-up that should repair it

Sorry Leonard, but that will not work if there is a critical system file missing. . .

try system restore back a day or 2 that only works if u have set points in the passed

Ignore leonard (and his other 5 or 6 personas) He's completely clueless. In fact there was a short time last week when it seemed like he was just an Eliza-like bot.

My son had not been using comp for a couple years. He didn't remember password so I couldn't get passed the log on screen.
