What can i do when my USB stick wont load?

Hello,
I had a new memory stick some time ago. On Sunday I copied them over to my memory stick and on Monday suddenly it won't open. When I plug it in it loads up and says that it's ready to use but it won't plug in.What has happened to it and can i get it repaired (preferably cheaply)?
