^ Why not an AMD build ?
By going that route, am sure you can get a HD 5850 in that build within that budget and for that resolution IMO that would be better...
And as for difference in performance between the AMD X4 955 and i5 750, in gaming, I highly doubt you would be able to notice any...But the change from HD 5770 to HD 5850 will certainly be noticeable...
And also there are newer AMD boards with updated chipsets - 890GX, which support Crossfire and have native SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0...

You can probably fit a 5870 if you go AMD which will smoke the I-5 out of the water.

By the way the 750TX is an excellent PSU but it's way overkill for a 5770. a good 500-600W is plenty for a 5770.

For a 5870 I would go with a 550-750W PSU (750W for crossfire in the future) and you'll be fine.

oh I didn't see that he is planning on buying in the summer.

Yeah prices will be totally different by then, nothing we say here at this time is really going to help at all.

I do know though, at 1900 by 1200 the 5770 will fail at high settings. 5870 though, is perfect.

Thanks for all of your help!

I decided im going to try and build this sooner rather than later.

SO that being said, longevity wise, would it be better to get an i5 750 with 5850 (in hopes of xfire later) or get the 5870 with athon 2 x3?

The AMD build is a little more future-proof. AMD is planning on sticking with the AM3 socket for a while, while the 1156 socket's future is a little cloudy. It may remain the mainstream socket for a bit, or Intel may phase it out within a year or two.
