AMD Phenom 555 BE Upgrade

Just upgrded from an Athalon 11 X 2 to a Phenom 11 X2 555BE. would like to unlock and overclock it. any help would be great. Compaq Presario CQ5120FP Pegatron Mainboard, Narra 5 Nvidia MCP61 Chipset Phoenix bios 5.49 08 06 2009 Windows 7 64 Bit 4 GB DDR 2 Memory Nvidia GT220 Vidio card

its not much of an upgrade and I highly doubt the compaq BIOS will unlock hidden cores (you need ACC options). i know it won't let you OC the cpu.

Thanks, ct1615. I think you have have confirmed what I suspected. I am fairly new at this, as my last upgrade was on a TRS 80, making the leap from 4KB ram to 8KB ram and to a 7" floppy from a cassette player for storage. you may have to do some research on that one. Thanks to people like you, us old farts can learn as we go and share knowledge that we have collected.

any reason for the upgrade question? are you using the PC to game, web surf, video edit?

Good question, I primarily use my PC for bookkeeping, invoices and research. I suspect that we both are not happy with knowing that something works. I like to know how and why it works, and can I make it work better. Regards... Craig
