Serial port connect problem

Hello,I have a MSI DKA790GX motherboard and I wish to attach the supplied rs232-serial port to the motherboard header . I have tried it and it can go on with the notch facing up or down. What direction should the notch be facing?

I'm confused on what RS232-Serial Port on the motherboard header are you talking about? This a typical RS232-Serial Port, which plugs into the back of the motherboard and monitor...

Now, if you are talking about the optional USB 2.0 Bracket, it plugs into the one of the JUSB1 ~ 3 connectors where the "blank box" (no hole) lines up with the "blanket slot" (no pin) on the motherboard slot.
