Graphics card PCI-E 2.0 loss on a PCI-E 1.0 motherboard?

I just bought a MSI Twin Frozr 1gig gts 250 OC graphics card it uses PCI-E 2.0 my mother board is only PCI-E 1.0 so I'm wondering how much of a loss am I getting? Would it be a big difference to upgrade to a PCI-E 2.0 motherboard?

I ask because I want to update my CPU which is a 3200 amd 64 x2 overclocked to 2.4ghz. I want to get a 3.0ghz so i can overclock it to 3.4ghz but dont want to sink more money into this rig if its pointless. Because if i upgrade the motherboard I would want to get socket type AM2+/AM3 and get ddr3 sockets too.

Any help would be great thanks!

More about graphics card loss motherboard
  1. Youll experience very little loss, even a 5870 isnt limited by theoritical pcie1.0 bandwidth, so a 250 wont come close. You dont have to upgrade your mobo to take full advantage of your new gfx card in other words :)
  2. thats great news thanks for the response
