ATX and ATX 2x4 12v?

Hello,

I just bought a gigabyte GA-770T and I am trying to install it (as we speak).. I'm not too familiar with power supplies, etc.

Do I need to install both the ATX plug and the ATX 2x4 12V? I have one ATX plug that fits no problem, but I don't seem to have a second 8 pin plug.. What am I missing here?

PS, power supply = 430W Thermaltake model: XP550NP

Yes, you have to connect both the main ATX connector and the CPU power connector. I'm sure your POS power supply doesn't have an 8-pin connector, but you can just use a 4-pin connector. Check your motherboard owners manual to see which four pins to use. The system doesn't have a chance of working without both connections plugged into the motherboard.
