I have 6GB of DDR3 1333 MHz tri-channel memory and I was wondering if it is compatible with this MSI motherboard.

I've read that the MSI "Big Bang X-Power" X58 motherboard supports up to 1066 MHz DDR3 without having to overclock your memory.

If I plug my memory kit into that motherboard will it automatically default back to 1066 MHz?

Doesn't the Core i7's memory controller max out at 1033 MHz?

The board supports 1066MHz speed, but supports higher speeds with OC.It means that you have to set the timings, speeds and voltages manually in the BIOS.

I have Two HD 5870's I am going to CF, and this motherboard seems like a very good option over my current ASUS board because the Two PCIe 2.0 x16 slots are distanced Two slots away from each other, instead of being right next to each other on my ASUS X58.

The cards will have room to breathe.

I'm not sure but even if it downlocks to 1066,it maybe becomes unstable(because its built to run at 1333MHz not 1066).

It will downclock to 1066 and in order to bring ti back up to 1333 you will need some overclocking. It will have a profile for 1066 speed, which will be loaded on startup.

So it will work, and will be compatible without becoming unstable?
