Hi,

Windows XP Home Edition doesn't boot on my Toshiba Satellite A110-225; it stops at

'Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.

Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.

Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.'

I have a legal Windows XP Home Edition version but no cd. I did create a bootable USB installer, but when booting from USB, it says
'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.'

I managed to run recovery console from USB, but as I hit enter on ---> DEBUG, in case of HAL.DLL or NTOSKRNL.EXE not found errors <--- system freezes.
