what are the advantages of having a cpu that has a higher wattage.

im looking at the amd x4 phenom ii black (still cant decide on that or the x6 one yet lol) and theres 2 that are exactly the same but one is 15w more does it make it faster or just hotter or somthing.

TDP or Thermal Design Power doesn't have an awful lot to do with performance as such. It represents the maximum value of power that a CPU can draw whilst staying below its thermal envelope. Generally, a lower TDP is better since it means less power consumption and lower temperatures.
