Hello,
I'm new to custom built desktop so excuse my beginner questions. Do I need to change/add anything? Here's my item list that the store guy faxed to me based on what I told him I wanted.

I'll be buying on Monday. My friend said I should get another power supply the Silverstone Essential 500w and change the casing to the Silverstone Aluminium Chassis. Are these necessary? I can get the power supply, but not sure if I have enough budget to upgrade the case. But can swing it if essential. Also, do I need the AVR as well, I read something that said its included in most PSUs.

Intel Core i5-750 2.66Ghz
Intel DH55TC motherboard
4Gb DDR3 1333 Kingston
500Gb Seagate HDD
NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GT 1024MB 256 bit GDDR3
Windows 7 Home Premium
18.5 Inch Acer LCD
ATX Casing Frontier Elite EI08A w/ 500W PSU
AVR 500W

CPU, RAM, and GPU are fine (though you could do a bit better if it's a primarily gaming build), but I'd definitely swap the motherboard for an Asus, Gigabyte, or EVGA part. Also, I don't tend to trust PSUs that come with a case - you'll want something better. Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, and others make good PSUs - check www.jonnyguru.com for excellent reviews of power supplies.

You didn't mention how much you are paying for this.

As motherboard, I advice you Asus P7P55-M
You PSU isn't great, Buy Corsair, Be quiet, Enermax, Antec... 400-450w will be suffice.
The 9800 gt is old card now, you should take, HD 4870 or 4890. Nowaday it's still good card. You find these cards with good prices 100-120€ approximately
