AMD New Build - Phenom II X6 1090T + CF - Cooling, MOBO & RAM Feedback

I am not an AMD guru, but I've built them before; it's been a while. The guy I'm building it for Insists on AMD...okay.

I've got good reasons for my selections, but it is incomplete. See the {TBD}. It's all on water, and I prefer Koolance, BUT I cannot find a good 'all-in-one' MOBO chipset block. Also, I prefer SLI, but I'm pretty certain I don't want to use M4N98TD EVO - it doesn't offer 3-WAY and I know it lacks the power I need. Also, I am a little up in the air about the XFX; I do like the warranty. I too realize about the waste of SATA3 HDD but the MOBO is all SATA3...

1) I know you are a fan of 3-way cards and the build is for a friend, I would not do so on ATI, as they don't scale as well as SLI.

2) XFX is to ATI as EVGA is to Nvidia... They are the best manufacturer.

3) I would look at the G.SKILL TRIDENT's instead but I know you know your RAM though

^ Yeah, it's another build, I charge $1K for these builds. I am an SLI guy. The problem is {AMD + SLI} < {AMD + CF}. I am not aware of any 3-WAY SLI AMD MOBO's. I begged and pleaded - the guy wants the 'killer AMD' build. ~$5K + me.

Have you thought of two 5970's instead or going with AMD/Nvidia & two GTX 580's? The ATI 5970 in dual cards is about as good as it gets

And did I read your right... You charge 1K to build plus it is a 5K+ system? I need friends like yours... I get $75 or free for my friends builds but no WC or 5K build for me though

If all I had to do was slap the stuff together then 1/2 that or less. Installing Koolance is an involved process.

Okay, then what AMD based SLI MOBO? As I mentioned, the ASUS M4N98TD EVO I don't think can handle the extreme OC and the GTX 580...? That's why I'm posting.

Your best bet is actually the MSI NF980-G65 for your SLI needs and gives you 3-way option as well. It looks to be the best Nvidia based AM3 board.

Yes... All builds are fun specially when you go against your "norm" in builds. It is like seeing how the other half live

Just don't go turning all AMD Fanboy on me (unless it means I get the SR2 setup for real real cheap )
