no i dont need to buy DVI to HDMI :??:

i need only display adapter to DVI
  4. Ah, my mistake.

    In that case:

The short ones (6 inches or less) are Dongles (Male => Female, same as a standard adapter), the longer ones are Adaptor Cables (Male => Male).
With a Dongle you will need to use a standard DVI cable to go the rest of the way to the monitor, the Adaptor Cables combine both.

not sure if that is available in india, probably not :(

i only know of BAFO (taiwan) supplying to india

any idea if BAFO makes longer adapters
  6. It does not look like it.
You can still use the one they do make...
Just use a standard DVI cable to get you the rest of the way to the monitor...
  7. Are you sure your DVI-D cable end is FEMALE? I've never heard of a monitor with a DVI-D MALE input. They should all be female, in which case you need a MALE DVI-D end.

    USA:
    www.monoprice.com

I just realized the Canadian site might not have those cables but Monoprice in the USA does. You are looking for the "DisplayPort to DVI Cables" at the bottom of the DisplayPort section in Cables.

  8. Note: While DisplayPort connectors are capable of passing a DVI signal, DisplayPort and DVI signals are basically different and not compatible with each other. In order for this cable to function properly, you must have a DisplayPort source device capable of producing and passing out a DVI signal through the DisplayPort jack.
