So, very interested in buying the ATI 5770, after my nVidia Geforce 8500GT broke a few weeks ago.

In know there are plenty of topics on the internet regarding this card, however I would like to know how games would run overall, with my current machine + an ATI 5770.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
4GB RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6GHz CPU
and then the ATI 5770.

Games I usually played my old 8500GT

Flight Simulator X (Low Graphics)
Call of Duty 4 (Medium Graphics)
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (Low Graphics)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Beta (Low Graphics)
World of Warcraft (Medium Graphics)

So how would these games improve once I get the ATI 5770?

Thanks!

Okay lets first start by saying that your Core2Duo will be a slight bottleneck for the 5770. That being said maybe if you can overclock it to over 3.0ghz it won't be a bottleneck. But to answer your questions.

Flight Simulator X (Medium-High).
Call of Duty 4 (Ultra High)
Modern Warfare 2 (Very High/Ultra High)
BBC2 (Medium/Veryhigh)
World of Wacraft (Maximum Settings).

This is with a 5770 at 1080p settings. 1920x1080 Resolution. Hope I helped!

Huge improvement. The HD 5770's performance is almost as good as the HD 4870 which is a card from "the same generation" as the GT 8500.

The GT 8500 is a budget that is considered more of a card for an HTPC (home theater PC) than for gaming. The HD 4870 was one of the best single GPU video card before AMD released the HD 5xxx series in the fall of 2009.

The HD 5770 (and conversely the HD 4870) are considered moderate gaming cards now with the HD 5850/70 as the top dogs of AMD's single GPU video cards.

you shouldn't have any problems whit those games

and btw that c2d 4700 might bottleneck the 5850/5870 or upcoming gtx480 and 470 but the 5770=4870 no
!
