Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz vs Pentium D 915 2.8GHz

Hi everyone, I'd like to know which, if running at stock speeds, of these cpu are better? I just would like to know straight of, like, knowing their capabilities at stock speeds, which one is best? Thanks

Go for the Core 2 Duo, it's a no-contest against the Pentium D.

A Pentium D 3.4GHz is about equal to a 1.8GHz C2D.

+1 the core 2 1.8ghz will run circles around a Pentium D.

E4300 - easily overclock to 3ghz as well if you fancy it :)

In addition to the performance, the C2D will consume less power and put out less heat. C2D was really a huge jump forward from the previous generation.
