looking to make a raid 5 with windows 7, software raid. I have 2 1.5 WD green hard drives, and need to buy 1 more. Does it have to be the same exact model, green? or can it be the black? so 2 green, one black?

More about : raid exact model

No.
RAID only cares about capacity.

capacity is key, but things will work best if working with the same, or extremely similar drives.

Those WD drives will not work properly in Raid 5. You will get constant dropouts and raid rebuilds. Research TLER WD, and you will find lots of info on this. They will run fine in Raid 0 / 1, but not 5.

Are you talking about WD green? or All WD including black?

Green, Black, Blue, anything they make that isn't in the RE line. The exception being older drives before they made the changes to not manually allow setting tler.
