Hello,
I have 4 x 2gb G Skill pc2-8500 DDR2 ram chips and a Nvidia GeForce 210 1gb DDR2 video card a •400 GB SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
HD. I want to use these parts and make a new computer. What motherboard and processor should I use? also can I crossfire or use 2 of the NVidia GeForce video cards together?

Welcome to Tom's Forums! :)

The short version is it's time to start a new. About the only component that you can reuse is you SATA2 HDD. The DDR2 is now replaced with DDR3, the GeForce 210 lacks the bridge connector for SLI and is now considered a low-end GPU. Moore's Law (18 months = x2 the speed).

There are a few MOBOs that support both DDR2 and DDR3 but only 2 and not 4 sticks.

Sorry :( However, I still can help if you're ready to start new.

I just built a machine using this mother board. Pretty decent. The processor is a little expensive right now. Should be able to get for $145-$140. Gotta watch prices. Your video card is too old to play modern games. You need something with shader model 3.0 at least and newest cards have 4.0.

Having said that, if all you can use and need to keep prices down.... the board and proc above will give a presumable upgrade over what you have..... presumable because some your parts aren't listed.

If you can swing it move up to DDR3 ram with a motherboard that will support it along with a new video card. Your native resolution will be a determining factor on which one to get.
