Gigabyte P55A-UD3P

Looking at getting a Gigabyte P55A-UD3P motherboard but I read a review which stated the PCI-E slot would be throttled down to x8 from x16 if SATA 6bps and USB 3.0 are used. Can anyone explain why this happens and if there are other motherboard options with similar features?

Planning to use it with an i5 760.

  1. That happens because the LGA1156 CPU's have the PCIe interface built into the CPU's. And it is limited to only 16 lanes. And both SATA 3 and USB 3 require a PCI lane.
  2. Would that happen with any LGA1156 socket motherboard if I used SATA 3 and USB 3?
