Can atheros ar9285 adapter be used for windows xp

Hello all,
I used to had windows7 for my laptop,but then I changed it into xp since I need it more for my field of work. The tech said he didn`t uninstalled windows7, said if I need it back I can always `call` it back, but I didn`t use dual os also. But afterward I can`t seem to connect onto wifi networks anymore. Is it because the atheros AR9285 adapter isn`t compatible with xp??? how can I solve this ???
