How to over clock RAM?

I'm new to overclocking ram, I have seen quite a few youtube vids on how to but would like a bit more help as to not fry my comp.
I have 2 4gb viper (by patriot) sticks , and was wondering how to over clock them, there standard clock is set to 800mhz I believe and they can be OC'd to 1600mhz.
( It has been a few weeks and was wondering where a good site that has a step by step guide that explains the Oc of RAM thoroughly.)
