I3 replace Core

It is better then core or core 2 duo.

The I3 is a newer series processor than the Core 2's, based on the Nehalem architecture. It's much faster than any Celeron. See here:

Though the i3 is cheaper than i5 or i7 its still to expensive and powerful for a budget processor the closest to a new budget processor is the G6950 but its still not really cheap and still outperforms any celeron. Intel may bring out a new budget option for its new platforms or the core 2 may replace the celeron as the budget option wait and see.
