which motherboard would be preferred for a gaming pc? Just to keep in mind, I will be planning on using the Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 and EVGA SuperClocked 015-P3-1582-AR GeForce GTX 580 with a possibility of getting another video card later in the future to SLI.

Either the Asus Rampage III Formula or EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR. All the gaming rigs I build are EVGA.
