I'm looking for a definitive answer on this motherboard G33m02 on a Dell Inspiron 530, and what it can support as far as ram. Let say I'm running Win 7 Pro 64-bit and I have the latest upgraded bios. Will this mobo take pc2-6400 2gb ram in each of it's 4 slots for a total of 8gb of ram. If yes, can it support up to pc2-8500. I have been getting different answers on the internet including Crucial.com and the Crucial Scanner program. Please help.

Dell Inspiron 530
G33m02 mobo Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2333MHz
Bios vers. 1.0.18

If there is any other info you need please let me know.

Also, looking at the Everest Ultimate trial addition, also conflicting. Says:

Module Size 1 GB (2 ranks, 4 banks)

and:

Supported Memory Types DDR2-667 SDRAM, DDR2-800 SDRAM, DDR3-800 SDRAM, DDR3-1066 SDRAM, DDR3-1333 SDRAM

Maximum Memory Amount 8 GB

So, really does any1 have nosh!t answer---w/out using the crucial website--with my bios updated I can't tell/remember what my Inspiron version is, 530a,b,c,d that also gives for insight since some can handle only 4gb and some can handle 8gb

I have a new question for you. Let say my mobo is confined to 4gb ram which it sounds like it is. I read some where that your vid.card also cuts into the ram you can have total on our mobo. My vid card is a gts250 512mb. So does that mean I can only have a total or 3gb of ram? At this point I'm really confused.

You probably have (2) issues: 1. Window 32-bit will be H/W Reserved ~ 0.5GB (loss); you stated 64-bit, 2. If your Dell MOBO has an on-board GPU then 0.25~0.5GB is 'shared' as H/W Reserved.

On-Board GPU: 1. IF possible disable in the BIOS {Dell locks-down their BIOS for many options}, 2. Disable in the Device Manager -- then restart.

Look at the following {note your H/W Reserved}:

I had this motherboard on a vostro 200 system and i can confirm that it does indeed work perfectly with 8gb of ram.
I know for a fact that it was not the g33mo3 because it did not work with a q6600.
Quite often i find i am able to fit more ram in both desktop and notebook computers then the manufacture specs.
The only way to know for sure is to try.

There is no need to try. Officially it is 4 GB limit, but here come user experience, and miracles do happened.
