I have a Dell Inspiron 5000 I bought new. It has worked fine until a
couple days ago. Now at power on, I can hear the fan come on, the
screen flashes and goes dark, and then it shuts off for a second or
two, then starts again. It continues cycling like this until I pull
the AC cord and battery. I once got it to stay powered off by
tapping on the power button. There is no reset button I can find.
It's running Win98SE. It won't boot to a stsrt-up disk either. I'm
thinking power supply problem, anyone else experience this? Thanks.

I had this problem when I tried to use the wrong memory. I suggest that you
try to reseat the memory modules.
