Wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8 hp

Hello,

HP Laptop win 8, i5 machine looses wifi connection every hour, can reconnect but shows 'wifi does not have a valid ip configuration'. Know win 8 has bugs but has to have a way to lock this ip so don't loose WIFI connection. My xp desktop stays connected
