Can I replace Dell D600 ics

One of the ICs on my Dell600 Latitude motherboard got burnt most likely by bad current, they are asking me to replace the motherboard, but that would be too expensive for me.

Is it possible to just change the motherboard?

Look for a used board on ebay, and be prepared to pay someone to install it if you don't want to try it. Laptops are a little harder to work with and some of the connections are tiny compared to desktops. Handle the wiring and leads with kid gloves.
