More about makes slow
  1. Did you do a fresh format on it?
  2. Yepp
  3. If it was working fine it should not have this effect on your PC, simple solution is take it out.
  4. Yea did that been fine since
  5. Just for curiosity's sake, you could run Seatools test on it. As a second drive, you could run the Windows version.
I'm thinking, maybe it has bad sectors, and maybe your system has put a (hidden) pagefile on it. This could effect extreme slowness, or even worse.

You could also try a different SATA connector.
  6. also check your bios setting. sata drive should be in ach mode not ide. also check that you dont have any of the raid settings turned on in the bios.
