Hello,

I have an 2008 Compaq 8510p notebook. The hard drive recently failed and I was hoping I could swap in a solid state drive.

From what I understand, the current drive is a SATA I. Does this mean I cannot put in a SATA II or SATA III SSD?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Though your system is SATAI; SATAII and III are backwards compatible and therefore will work. You won't see the full speed of SATA2 or 3, but you could use an SSD in that laptop.
Again, though you won't see the full performance, you will see a significant performance increase from the HDD you're use to. Worth the upgrade, if you're trying to keep that system going a little longer.
