No network, no sound

Dell Celeron with xp, had xp wiped out and installed linux. Works great, decided to reinstall xp, computer will not connect to net neither will will sound function. Install new sound card and drivers, will not even recognize drivers or hardward. Reinstall linux, everything works. Why does xp not recognize the drivers? Original hard drive, did not change.

I down loaded the network, sound and other drivers from another computer and installed them into the computer, works great.
