Dell 4300 with ati x700 pro

I'm trying to install an ati x700 pro video card into a dell inspiration 4300. When i reboot after disabling old drivers, software etc., and installing the new card, I get no video. Connections all look good, power looks good, fan runs on new card. If I reinstall the old card, all is well. Help!
