I have recently built a new computer with Intel core i7 3930k and for storage have bought WD Caviar Black Edition Model WD1002FAEX (SATA 6 GBps and 64 MB Cache). The Hard Disk makes strange noises when reading data, some mild grinding kind of noises. I have searched the net and have got mixed reviews from people where majority say WD Black editions to be noisy. Can any other Black Edition user comment???

I also tested my HDD with hdtune and following are the results:
ARE THE RESULTS NORMAL AS WELL?

Heres a video showing the noise:

If it's making grinding noises then you want to check it out mate.

Download and run "Seatools". It's a Seagate piece of software but it can check any brand of hard drive. It will check to see if there is anything wrong with it.

Good luck!

The tests are all clear from WD Diagnostics available at their site.
