Help fast! Will 5970 ati work with my 680i sli board??

I am in the car halfway to a guys house to buy a used 5970 and I read on some threads I googled that the 5970 won't work correctly with my 680i sli board. It's an Evga. I know I can't xfire with it but I read something about physx and having to run a driver sweep or something... Should I Just get a 470/480?

5970 is a single card with 2 GPUs on one PCB. It doesn't require crossfire enabling or anything like that, but it will work best with specific drivers from the manufacturer's website. It should run on your mobo fine.
