SSD install for programs not OS

Hello,
I just built a new PC, it's booting from a new HDD and my old HDD is also installed so I can copy of my files.
I'm also trying to install a SSD, from which to run games. I can see it in the BIOS, but can't access it to format it from within Windows.
How do I get the SSD up and running?

And I would NOT use the SSD just for games! Games run no faster on an SSD, only load faster (and maps load faster).

Use it as your boot/OS drive, and install your games there too! Even though you install games to a differnet drive, lots of stuff will still install to the OS drive.

Thank you very much.

I'll think about booting from the SSD, but it sounds like I'll have headaches more often if I have my OS on a drive with limited space, instead of select programs on the small drive.

Should be all set. I wish I'd thought to search for any old missing drive instead of just SSD install problems.
