XP Locks up on boot

Hello, Windows XP freezes on boot up.
When I turned on my computer, the Windows XP logo shows up, then it scrolls across the screen, like it's loading, but after about 10 times the scrolling freezes. Nothing else happens. I've tried all options, like safe mode, and last know config. But it doesn't work. Inserted XP disk and it loads files, but then it gets to 'Setup is starting Windows' and freezes. HELP!

What caused this ? How old is the system ?
I would do a complete dust off with power off.
Then if it still does it, you have an overheating problem, either need to re-apply paste on CPU or the HDD is overheating.
