What happens to your files when you configure something off your hard drive to a

Hello,i"m trying to find files that I had stored on my portable hard drive from my computer, the thing is i added a file that was for my X-Box 360 (nba live game) I configured the portable hard drive from my xbox and didn't see the file. So, when I went to plug it back into my computer it showed that my files where still used on the Hard Drive, but I didn't see any files when i opened the folder. How do I find them?

try going to tools at the top,then folder options. click on the view tab and check show hidden files and folders
