Were there any recalls for acer laptops? motherboard broken easily \\ usb ports

I'm just trying to find out how I can fix the problem I have with my acer. The usb port is broken. All i did was disconnect the mouse, and a piece fell out! I took it into a shop, and they told me it was a problem they couldn't fix, because, the problem was in the 'motherboard'. Any ideas on what I should do would be helpful. Please help me!!

If the laptop is less than a year old send it back to acer under its cover plan.
